Phillip Lebbeus Wickware

Alpheus
was a river god in Greek mythology.
Lebbeus (Laboris, Lebeus, Lebius, Lebeous, Libeous, Libious) is from the Bible. It means a man of heart.

 
New London County, Connecticut was one of four original Connecticut counties and was established on May 10, 1666, by an act of the Connecticut General Court.

Philip Lebbeus Wickware was born about 1770 in Lebanon, New London, Connecticut. He was the son of Lebbeus Wickware.

He married Margaret Seeley. Margaret was the daughter of Augustus Seeley.

Margaret and Philip's children may have included:

Philip Wickware (1791, married Matilda Griffin, daughter of Samuel Griffin),
Jonathan Wickware (1793),
Lebbeus Wickware, Jr. (1795), and
Polly Wickware (married Gilbert Griffin, son of of Samuel Griffin).

Margaret petitioned for land in Leeds in 1793.

The Petition of Margaret Wickwire Daughter of Augustus Seely
Most Humbly Shewith That by virtue of an order of His Excellency the Governor n Council
for the 9th of November 1787
your Petitioner being married and the Daughter of Augustus Seely who joined the Royal Standard before the Treaty of Separation in 1783 conceives herself entitled to Two Hundred acres of land. An Prays it might be granted her.

Margaret and "Laboris" were listed in the Elizabethtown census with Philip, Mary, Laboris, Jr. and Jane.

He died in 1827 in Leeds County, Ontario.
